Fondant Cookies for your trick or treaters!
Recently I have been fascinated with how easy it is to decorate cookies using fondant.
Last year a client asked me to make some fondant cookies, and since then I have been venturing out of my royal icing comfort zone and have been decorating cookies with fondant. Let me tell you that I am loving it!
In this video I decorated a Jack o' lantern cookie using fondant in three different ways, and I really, really love these designs.
I have a very good recipe for making fondant from scratch, but lately I have been using a very delicious, super soft store bought fondant.
Having the right fondant is like nailing the right consistency of royal icing, and since I found a very good one, there is no one stopping me from using it. I just hope that soon things will be back to normal and things will be as available as they used to be, because sometimes it is hard to find this brand of fondant.
Here are some examples of some other cookies I recently made. I used some molds and cookie cutters that I have at home, but there are so many fondant tools that will help you create wonderful cookies.
I especially like the stamped cookie cutters since they make things much easier and the look of your cookies is so nice and smooth.
And as you know I love, LOVE royal icing and I did use it in some of these cookies.
What do you think, will you like to give fondant a try? I think you will love not having to deal with plugged decorating tips and a big mess in your kitchen.
These cookies are ready for my special trick or treater, she loves fondant cookies, and I can't wait to give them to her!
