Let's give a twist to our traditional charcuterie board and make it a little more festive!
You might be thinking, what is a charbooterie? When Pinterest gave me some options of themes to make an immersive episode one of the choices was “charbooterie”, and I immediately choose it! A charbootereie is a charcuterie board for Halloween, well at least that is what it came to my mind when I read charbooterie!
As you know charcuterie boards have gain a lot of popularity in the last couple of years and everyone gets very excited when they have the change to enjoy one, because normally you will enjoy a cup of wine and a good talk!
Charcuterie, is a French word that literally means “the products of a fancy pork butcher”, so a charcuterie board is an arrangement of cold or cooked pork meats. But here in America what we know as a charcuterie board is a mix of cheese board and charcuterie board, I think that the proper definition will be an appetizer board.
Normally cheese boards are accompanied with fresh and died fruits, crackers or bread, nuts, honey and olives, but you can add what ever you like, I added some other sweet treats as well.
When choosing the cheeses I like a little bit of variety in both texture and taste.
There's an old saying among cheese lovers, that says that a cheese board should include something old, something new, something stinky, and something blue."
For this board, I choose a blue cheese, brie and aged cheddar.
And also there is a rule that you should include an odd number of cheeses- 1-3-5, depending on for how many persons is the board.
For the cold meats I like to choose between some aged and smoked kinds to balance the flavors, I choose uncured smoked jam, dry cured salami and chorizo and some capicola.
I invite you to watch the episode and see what are the other goodies I added to this charbooterie! I think there are no rules on what to include in a charcuterie board, what is more important is to add the things you like to pair with a cup of wine!
