I am happy to announce that during the month of October I will be having a "Royal Icing Series " on Pinterest TV!
As you may know I really love to decorate cookies. Throughout all these years trying to master the art of cookie decorating, I have learned a thing or two and I have even created my own recipes and techniques.
Back in the day when I started decorating cookies, I was not expecting for it to become a HUGE trend all over the world. The art of cookie decorating is nothing new and it has been around for so many centuries. Some data suggests that it started in Switzerland in the 1400's with the Springerle cookie molds that were carved from wood and used to impress Biblical designs into cookies.
Some new techniques have developed such as the edible paper and edible inks, who thought that you could decorate a cookie using your printer?
The food coloring also has been innovated, now we can find food gel colors in all the colors of the rainbow and there are some other kinds of dry paints like aquarelles. Now we can decorate cookies in so many colors and not just in the primary colors as our moms and grandmas used to.
Another thing is the edible glitter and the amazing, beautiful sprinkles and mixes. I remember before all the mixed sprinkles gained popularity, I used to make my own mixes which was why when I started this blog and named it Mil Garages, meaning "One thousand sprinkles"
Anywayyyyys!!! As you know I am very passionate about cookie decorating and can't wait to share with you all that I have learned, and I hope that my experiences inspire you to start practicing these recipes and techniques. Now is the perfect time so you can prepare for the BIG holidays!
