Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a great time with family and friends over the holiday and that this new year will be one full of blessings!
I have never heard about the "Holiday blues or Holiday Hangover" until very recently. Even though this is something that I go through every year and I actually thought that I was the only one that felt it.
I try as much to stretch the Holiday Season mode as much as I can and obviously our house is one of the few houses whose Christmas lights are still on!
Growing up in Mexico the holidays mode didn’t end until the day after Epiphany or Día de los Reyes Magos with the rosca de reyes, hot chocolate and a day full of magic and even more TOYS!
So, obviously it is not easy for me to switch out of the holiday spirit as soon as the new year begins. Although it is really not the same when everyone has gone back to work and their lives continue and all we have is the memories of those days past.
And maybe the cure for the holiday hangover will be similar to a regular hangover... they say that you need to drink some more to cure the hangover, so maybe a little bit more of holiday joy will cure the holiday hangover and maybe for the people that are alone doing something joyful for ourselves will cure the blues.
The way I will try to cure mine is to share with you some cute ideas for Epiphany cookies that I have made in the past and I will be making a mini Rosca de Reyes for a change this year. We normally buy it in from our favorite Mexican bakery in town.
Here is a video too: Click here
Please visit my Pinterest or Instagram, I will be sharing some pictures of my rosca, hopefully it comes out nice, it is known to be kind of difficult and I will be using the bread machine, so wish me luck!
