Before I started decorating cookies I had some other hobbies, like sewing, crocheting, scrapbooking, making headbands and jewelry!
Ever since I was in elementary, I always had to add a little extra something to my school projects, like adding glitter to the sky, cotton balls as clouds, and origami pieces here and there. Maybe I was a little extra, but I really enjoyed making them and I think that is what helped me become a creative. It especially helped me find ways to carry out my ideas with few resources or the ones I had handy.
So, whenever I saw cute paper crafts in the stores, I had to buy them, especially if they were on sale. I was always thinking that one day I can give them a good use.
For this cute bunny cookie, I used a card stock bunny from an Easter decor set. If you have an idea in mind and you need to make few cookies sometimes it’s useful to draw your design and cut out some card stock, so it is easy to use as a template to cut out the cookies.
To do so the cookie dough needs to be very cold, and you need a flat sharp knife to make more clean lines when you are cutting.
( Whenever you can, direct the knife facing the opposite direction from you for your safety. )
However, I wouldn’t recommend making your own templates when you have large orders of cookies as it is time consuming and can add to labor costs.
Yet, there are plenty of options for making custom cookie cutters and even some public libraries have 3D printers that are free to use. I would love to make my own 3D printed cookie cutters… that will be my next adventure. In the meantime, here is the link of a short on how I cut out the cookie, as well as how I decorated it in the next video or here.
