Mothers day cookies

Let me start this post with the etymology of the word "mother."

Mother comes from the Latin word "mah ter" which means matter or matrix.

In Spanish the word "mamá" comes from the Latin word "mamma" (breast) and from "amma" (amor+ love).

I love how just the word "Mother or Mamá" gives a warm feeling in my heart, I have the blessing of being a mom and also to have my mom, although she lives in another country, I enjoy so much when I hear her sweet voice or see her beautiful face on the screen.  

This week/weekend many countries will be celebrating their mothers and I am sharing with you several cookies ideas for this occasion. 

Remember that most mothers will appreciate you taking some time of your day to make something for them, not focusing too much in the outcome. So prepare some royal icing, bake some cookies and let your creativity guide you to create something special for your mom! 

You can make simple cookies as these ones. Pick your favorite and mix and match designs that remind you most of your mom. 

For a spin make your mom a cookie bouquet,  flower cookies or a cookie card. 

Remember that you can also incorporate many different flavors, especially those that your mom loves.
