Happy National S'mores Day!
This morning I realized that today is National S'mores Day! I’ve also noticed that S'mores have inspired me to make a lot of s'mores look alike cookies.
Here in the house, we LOVE s'mores, not only because they are easy to make and are delicious, but also because most of the time we enjoy them they are linked to fun family memories!
We have been lucky that most of the times the campfire is ready to go, and we have not had to prep the fire. I think that is something hard to do and you need to have several years of experience starting it and make it just right to melt those fluffy
marshmallows.
Making s'mores the traditional way is a great family activity although it is a little risky and you need to be very careful particularly if little kids will be making them.
The length of the sticks will depend on how far you will be from the fire, now a days there are campfires that have a protective rail around. So, for those the sticks should be between 2-3 feet long. If you have a traditional campfire (no rails) your stick should be between 12-18 inches long, if they are very long, they are hard to manage.
If you can't build a campfire or the temperature outside is close or higher to the 100's, you still can enjoy an indoor s’more. Here you can find some products that are great for indoor s'mores. Click here
Here you can watch a livestream on Kittch where I made several s'mores alternative treats. They are easy to make and really allow for creative twists to the traditional marshmallow sandwiched between the crackers.
